How to stake TON (Gram), step by step

This walkthrough uses KTON, the liquid staking protocol we build, because it is the one we can describe exactly. The wallet steps are the same for any TON staking app.

Before you start

  • A TON wallet you control. Tonkeeper, MyTonWallet, Wallet in Telegram, OKX or any wallet with TON Connect. Which wallet?
  • Gram. The amount you want to stake, plus about 1.2 Gram for gas (most of it is refunded). Bought on an exchange? Withdraw it to your wallet on the TON network.
  • Ten minutes.

Stake in four steps

  1. 1

    Open KTON

Go to app.kton.io in a browser, or open @ktonio_bot inside Telegram.

  2. 2

    Connect your wallet

Tap Connect and choose your wallet. Approve the TON Connect request in the wallet app after checking the domain.

  3. 3

    Enter an amount and stake

The minimum is 1 Gram. The wallet attaches about 1.15 Gram for network gas and refunds what is unused, so keep a little more than you stake. Confirm the transaction in your wallet.

  4. 4

    Receive KTON

KTON arrives in your wallet within seconds. You will receive slightly fewer KTON than Gram you deposited; that is the exchange rate (1.0830 Gram per KTON today), not a fee.

Staking with Tonkeeper, Telegram or Ledger

  • Tonkeeper. Open app.kton.io in your browser, tap Connect and pick Tonkeeper; on a phone the app opens to approve. You can also open the site from Tonkeeper’s built-in browser.
  • MyTonWallet or OKX Wallet. Same flow: Connect, choose the wallet, approve the request.
  • Telegram. Open @ktonio_bot and connect Wallet in Telegram or Tonkeeper. Full Telegram guide.
  • Ledger. Add the Ledger to Tonkeeper or MyTonWallet, connect that wallet, and confirm the transaction on the device.

While you hold

There is nothing to claim or restake. After each round the pool adds the round’s net rewards, and every KTON redeems for a little more Gram. Your wallet’s fiat value for KTON may lag; the exchange rate is the number that matters.

At the current 30-day pace of 13.6%, 1,000 Gram grows to roughly 1,000 × (1 + APY) after a year. Try your own numbers in the calculator.

How to unstake

  1. 1

    Choose Unstake

In the KTON app, switch to Unstake and enter how much KTON to return.

  2. 2

Now or at the end of the round

Withdraw now pays from the pool’s spare Gram for a 0.2% fee, if your amount fits; the app shows how much is available. Waiting for the round costs only gas.

  3. 3

    Confirm

Withdraw now: your Gram arrives within seconds. Waiting: the pool issues a payout receipt (an NFT) to your address; when the round settles it is burned automatically and your Gram arrives, up to about 36 hours later.

Withdrawal≥0.5 Gram message valueA minimum message value for the request, not a deduction

Withdrawal feeNone when you wait; 0.2% to withdraw nowWithdrawing now is paid from the pool’s spare Gram at the current rate, without the profit the round has not booked yet

Common mistakes

  • Sending Gram straight to a pool or the Elector address. Always stake through the app; a plain transfer is not a deposit.
  • Staking your whole balance. Leave a couple of Gram for gas, or the transaction will fail.
  • Withdrawing from an exchange on the wrong network. Choose TON as the network when you withdraw Gram.
  • Trusting “claim your GRAM” messages. The Toncoin → Gram rename needed no action. Details.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to start earning?
You receive KTON immediately. Rewards show up in the exchange rate when the next round settles, usually within about a day and a half.
Can I stake from an exchange account?
Not with KTON. Staking needs a wallet whose keys you control. Withdraw Gram from the exchange to your wallet first.
Can I add more later?
Yes. Each deposit simply mints more KTON at the current rate.
Which wallet is best for staking?
Any TON Connect wallet works. Tonkeeper and MyTonWallet are popular; Wallet in Telegram pairs well with the Mini App; Ledger through Tonkeeper or MyTonWallet suits larger balances. Wallet guide.
